I specialize in writing about foods and nutrition for anyone from 8 years old to over 80.

I enjoy making nutrition accessible and practical for a variety of audiences, and maintaining a voice that is independent of the food industry. My publications range from a top culinary nutrition college textbook in its ninth edition to trade books on healthy cooking and educational cookbooks for kids. In addition to writing, I teach nutrition to nursing students at Gwynedd Mercy University in Gwynedd Valley, Pennsylvania.

The American Booksellers Association awarded “Pick of the List” to The Science Chef Travels Around the World, a children’s educational cookbook I co-authored with a recipe developer.  I also won an award for editing and authoring articles for Healthcare Foodservice Trends, a periodical published for healthcare foodservice managers.

As a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, I have worked in many areas of nutrition including clinical and community nutrition. With a MS in Health Education from Russell Sage College, I later pursued and completed a doctorate in nutrition education from Immaculata University. I have also worked as an Associate Teaching Professor in Nutrition at Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

I am a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Society for Nutrition Education and Behavior, Authors Guild, and American Society of Journalists and Authors.

My Work

  • A trade book published by John Wiley & Sons, Cook’s Healthy Handbook:  Good Nutrition and Safety in Your Kitchen, was one of the early books on healthy cooking in the 1990s.
  • A series of seven educational cookbooks for kids, such as The Science Chef and The Healthy Body Cookbook, have sold over 100,000 copies and continue to do well on John Wiley & Sons’ backlist.
